Treasurer’s Report:
- Will send out an e-mail with the year-end report.
- This was a bumper year for the Bluemont Fair and the funds raised will enable us to contribute to our designated charities.
- These charities include: Austin Grove Church, Boulder Crest Foundation, Appalachian Trail Conservancy, Round Hill Fire Department, Arbor Day Foundation, Bluemont United Methodist Church, FISH of Clarke County, Friends of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Good Shephard Episcopal Church, Horseshow Curve Benevolent Society, Snickersville Turnpike Association, Tree of Life, Bluemont Community Center Foundation, Potomac Appalachian Trail (PATC) Club.
Bluemont Fair 2026 News:
- Be thinking of a theme and any suggestions. There will be a meeting next week to discuss this and also figure out the calendar dates.
- We are still looking for a volunteer to be in charge of the 50/50 raffle.
Bluemont Heritage:
- Bill Bogard is the new President.
- An organizational meeting has been scheduled for January 19.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors:
- 13 volunteers met last week to discuss the situation of a community member in need.
- Jen is meeting with a Geriatric Case Manager who will do a professional assessment. She will report back with the Case Manager’s findings.
- Kim is looking at social services agencies to see what help may be available.
Bluemont Community Center:
- A Winter Gear Swap will take place later this week on January 9 at the Community Center.
- In February, the Community Center will offer line dancing classes.
Snickersville Turnpike Association (STA):
- No report
Bear’s Den Fundraiser:
- The fundraiser was very well attended and raised roughly $10,000 for repairs.
East Wind Resort Update:
- Bill Waite gave an update of the latest news.
- Signs that read, “No Resort Complex—Protect Paris Mountain” are available to place in yards or other visible areas. Have made 50 signs and there are requests for more that are being made now. They will be ready next week.
- Since September, 18 organizations have signed up and created an alliance.
- There was a meeting last Monday to regroup and get started again after the holidays.
- A Press release was generated. Have been getting good local publicity.
Official Elections for the BCA:
- John Sullivan moved to nominate the slate. Cynthia Morris seconded the motion.
- Vote was taken. Officers were elected unanimously.
- President: Peter Weeks, Vice President: Jessica Nalls, Secretary: Melissa Hess, Treasurer: Hillary Perkins
- The Trustees continue their current terms: Cynthia Morris, John Constant, John Sullivan.
Next Meeting:
- The next meeting will be on February 4, 2026 7:00 p.m. at the Bluemont Community Center
