Bluemont Fair 2025 News:
- All remaining volunteer slots for Chairs have been filled.
- A vote was taken to keep the admission fee to $10.
- The group is searching for a corporate sponsor.
Bluemont Heritage:
- Contractors have started to work on the Snickersville Academy this week.
- We are hoping for an August completion date.
- The Academy is owned by BCA and we are dedicated to keeping it looking great.
Special Presentations by Irv Snyder:
- Two presentations were shown to the group: Snickersville 1864: The Civil Wars Comes to our Village and When the Trains Came to Bluemont: A Tour of the Village 1914.
- Narrated by Irv Snyder, these excellent and informative presentations will be shown at the Bluemont Fair.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors:
- Rachael and Kim are Co-Chairs.
- There was a discussion about listing requests/developing a directory. Peter suggested the committee put something together and he will see that it goes out.
Old Business:
- Spring Fling was a huge success, great food, beautiful weather. Feedback was universally positive.
- Land Use Forum was well attended. There were 12 different organizations at tables, giving
attendees the opportunity to ask questions about several different land use issues. - The Appalachian Trail Festival is this coming Saturday. We are a member of the Appalachian Trail community and one of the sponsors. As part of this event, there will be a series of speakers, including Tim Kaine, who will be promoting and signing copies of his book, Walk, Ride, Paddle.
- Bluemont Concert Series will be scheduled at some point in the fall. There are three different grammy-winning artists. We will be able to choose among them.
New Business:
- The group discussed possible fundraising ideas to cover costs relating to the renovation of the Snickersville Academy. The fundraising goal is $47,000.
- There is already a $5000 matching grant and we will have a mailing to residents to solicit donations.
- Fundraising suggestions included: Getting corporate sponsors, holding racing events, possibly
having another Shamrock race or Bluemont 5K.
