Bluemont Fair 2026 News:
Call for Poster/T-shirt designs: Organizers of the 56th Annual Bluemont Fair invite artists to submit designs for this year’s poster and t-shirt. The 2026 theme is Black Bears. Details are posted on bluemontfair.org
Entertainment: The Beer & Wine Garden folks are having a contest for the musicians who will play in their area this year. There will be auditions in April playing before audiences at either Dirt Farm or Bluemont Station, and the winners will get paid slots at the Beer/Wine Garden stage. Volunteers needed:
- We are looking for someone to run the 50-50 raffle. We have all the details arranged and the person will just need to step into the role.
- We still need someone to run Juried Crafts (our current Chair is moving to Colorado). Let Cynthia know if you know of anyone who is willing to step in and join us on the Fair committe
- The Sons of the American Revolution have offered to attend and do a reenactment at the Fair
Bluemont Heritage:
- Recently had an organizational meeting.
- Received a $1000 donation.
- Are in the process of amending the Articles of Incorporation.
- Raised the idea of merging BCA and Friends of Bluemont and are looking into it.
- Will plant a liberty tree as part of the 250th anniversary celebration. Details TBD.
Bluemont Heritage:

Snickersville Turnpike Association:
- Will plant a native tree with a memorial marker in honor of Betty on the grounds of the Snickersville Academy. Will move forward with this once the weather warms up.
East Wind Resort Update:
- The alliance is 20 partners strong.
- The Appalachian Trail Conservancy reported west of Route 50, you can see the hotels. The organization has come out against the development of the resort.
- Peter will meet with Friends of the Appalachian Trail next week.
Announcements:
- The County is now paying for utilities at the E.E. Lake Store.
- This week, Peter met with Tree of Life staff, took a tour of their facilities in Purcellville, and gave them a donation. They are helping Bluemont residents with food insecurity.
- The Abigail Adams presentation is Sunday, March 11. You can sign up on line. Details were included in the weekly announcements.
- The winter issue of The Bugle will be mailed this week.
- There was illegal dumping at the hairpin curve this week. Construction debris was dumped, then someone returned and pushed everything down the hill. This weekend, we are looking for people to help clean this up. (This effort qualifies as community service for scholarship applicants). Please spread the word.
