Meeting called to order: 7:07 PM, Peter Weeks – presiding

President’s Remarks:

Summer issue of the Bugle is coming out. Will include the Spring Fling, AT Commencement, Fox News Interview, and a few others.

Treasurer’s Report:

Balance in the accounts are about the same. Fair deposits are coming in to offset expenditures. $11,750.00 awarded in Scholarships for 10 students. 9 of the 10 checks have gone out. Fair Expenses for Advertising, Children’s Fair, and Beer/Wine were paid. In summary we are running in the positive! Current YTD Return is 5.78%

Standing Committees:

• Bluemont Fair 

    • Next meeting is next Wednesday 9/9.
    • Posters are ready and will be looking for people to help put them up.
    • Art Show will now be upstairs in the community center, model train show will be upstairs in the lake store, as well as the Pickle and Pie.
    • Watch for email asking for volunteers at the end of the month.

• Bluemont Heritage 

Quilt exhibition is going to break previous records of attendance. As a result we are getting new members and sales! New store tenant is a vintage clothing and gift store and while there she has sold several hundred dollars worth of fair stuff. She is currently working a few hours on Sunday and pays for the AC. Moving forward next year there will be a tenant contract made.

• Loudoun Historic Village Alliance  

Board of Supervisors has been presented with the recommendations for the Historic Villages. Waiting for the county to finish up with St. Louis to create their template. Once the county has approved their plan we will use it as a template. In October a survey will be delivered to the community to gauge what people in the community feel is important. 2024 Zoning Ordinance amendment which will allow all of the villages to submit their own plan.

Community Organizations/Events:

• Snickersville Turnpike Association

      • Picnic August 13 from 1-4, potluck event at Plaster Fields. Live Music and tents will be set up. Rain or Shine. Picnic is for PR to keep the community engaged.
      • The Turnpike has been added to the National Historic Places now and a sign will be placed along the road in Bluemont.
  • Appalachian Trail Committee

    We will be participating in the Trail Days in Hillsboro. It’s a big event now with food trucks and music. We will need to have volunteers to help.

Old Business:

  • Fox News Interview – Dirt Farm, Great Country Farm, neighbors were present to say why they love living here.

New Business:

  • New sign board in front of the Community Center, should be much easier to use
