President’s Remarks
Bluemont Fair is on!
Peter Weeks and other volunteers will oversee local filming in Snickersville Academy in Bluemont (September 13th-15th). This wouldn’t be possible without the cooperation of Boulder Crest who will provide parking and access to bathrooms.

VOLUNTEERS ARE STILL NEEDED
Posters can be picked up at Iron Gate Antiques in Bluemont.
John Constant asked about musicians playing at the gate for tips.
- Bluemont Heritage Peter, Kevin
Jen Stone hosted 23 montessori students and 3 teachers last week as they toured the Education Exhibit at the Plaster Museum.
Bluemont Heritage Potluck Picnic at Snickersville Academy is tentatively scheduled for Sunday October 3, 2021.
Community Organizations/Events
- Loudoun Historic Villages Alliance Peter
Loudoun Fire and Rescue will be hosting a presentation on the future of the Philomont Fire Station during a meeting at Woodgrove High School on September 9th. The public is invited to attend.

- Snickersville Turnpike Association Henry Plaster
John Constant reported STA is following Philomont Fire Station development.
Some of the STA historic markers have been damaged and need to be replaced. Monument projects are expensive and STA might have community event to raise money.
A presentation was made to The Loudoun Preservation Coalition stating that a successful application has been made to the National Register of Historic Places.
Snickersville Turnpike Association looking for new board members. They meet the 3rd Tuesday of the month (10 months of the year).
Old Business
- VDOT Traffic Calming / Bridge Peter
VDOT will meet with two representatives from Bluemont (Peter Weeks and Bill Bogard) the first week in October. Peter is dissatisfied with the final condition of the two lane bridge and considers it unfinished. This will be discussed during the October meeting in addition to other safety and traffic calming recommendations.
- AT&T Tower Update Peter
We do not want towers built on our mountains. Final vote is September 14th at the regularly scheduled BOS meeting.
Peter wrote an editorial in Loudoun Now, Leesburg Times Mirror and Blue Ridge Leader letting people know how they can communicate their opinion to the Board of Supervisors: bos@loudoun.gov.
New Business:
Tom Rust organized a team of volunteers to clean up the sidewalks in Bluemont that had become overgrown.
People in our community attended the Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue training in Leesburg. Lori Seeley attended as an awareness participant. It was very thorough. Loudoun Equine Alliance was there to support the training. The North Fork Fire and Safety Department were involved in the training. A large contingent from the Loudoun Department of Animal Services attended. More information to come.

- Round Hill Trail Festival 9/11-12 Peter
Will be held at B Chord Brewery.
