Bluemont Fair:
- Yesterday, there was a meeting of all Bluemont Fair Chairs to update progress.
- Omari Faulkner was introduced as the new 50/50 Raffle Chair and Melissa Hoxley, the
new Craft Chair. - The poster for the fair is now completed, was shown, and looks great.
- The Pickle and Pie contest for the fair will be moved to a new location this year: The
Bluemont Community Center.
Bluemont Heritage:
- Dave Ewald is moving to Ft. Worth, Texas and has agreed to remain as Treasurer, for
now. - Bill Bogard is continuing to explore possibilities for lighting inside the Snickersville
Academy building. - He is also looking at the fire place and looking at fire place screens. He discovered there
is a liner for fires and it is possible to have a wood fire. There are some limitations
though. - On July 4, there will be a celebratory ceremony at the Methodist church, honoring our
nation’s birthday at 2:50 p.m. with the ringing of the bells (13 times for the original 13
colonies), followed by an ice cream social. The Bluemont Store has graciously donated
the ice cream.
Snickersville Turnpike Association:
- Check out STA’s display of the evolution of the American flag with four separate historic
versions of the America flag on the side of the E.E. Lake store. - There two historic markers on Snickersville Turnpike now. One is at Henry Plaster’s
Farm at Whitehall Lane and Snickersville Turnpike and the other, a new marker, is at the
pullout at the Civil War monument on Snickersville Turnpike. - A member of the Loudoun Foundation will give a grant to the STA soon. We are waiting
to learn more as to the amount and when it will be donated.
Loudoun Historic Villages Alliance:
Thirteen villages are working with Loudoun County for each town to have its own
ordinances and buffers. It will take another four to five years to do this. The group is
working with a small number of villages at a time. Bluemont will come later.
East Wind Resort Update:
The developer plans to move forward with resort plans, in spite of the obstacles and
challenges. A struggle for both sides (developer versus local residents/various
organizations) is looming.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors:
The E.E. Lake store will be a designated cooling center for anyone seeking relief from the heat.
Bluemont Community Center (BCC):
- On July 7, there will be a special “under the Sea” presentation that will include live sea creatures.
- On July 20, the BCC is having its own ice cream social.

There will be a Dance Party on July 18 at the E.E. Lake Store.
