Bluemont Fair 2026 Volunteers Needed:

Bluemont Heritage:

  • A meeting took place with representatives from Piedmont Heritage to discuss hosting some type of event in July, with further discussions taking place tomorrow. At present, the program does not have a lot of form, but more information will follow, as plans are put in place.
  • A special event will take place in Bluemont on July 4 as an ice cream social (with ice cream from the Bluemont Store). It is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., when the Methodist Church bells will ring 13 times to commemorate the original 13 colonies. (Bells around the country will ring at the same time). There will also be special activities for children.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors:

There is a need for a volunteer to week whack around Grace’s home. After a discussion, two names were suggested and these two individuals will be contacted to see if they can assist.

Snickersville Turnpike Association:

  • There are two historic markers on Snickersville Turnpike now. One is at Henry Plaster’s Farm at Whitehall Lane and Snickersville Turnpike and the other, a new marker, is at the pullout at the Civil War monument on Snickersville Turnpike.
  • Coming soon — The STA will have a display of the evolution of the American flag and will hang four separate historic versions of the America flag on the side of the E.E. Lake store.

Spring Fling update:
Great food, music, and conversation with neighbors — The rain was present throughout the day, but didn’t dampen anyone’s spirit. All who attended had a great time. Sincere thanks to all the volunteers who helped with set up, clean up, or brought desserts!

East Wind Resort Update:

  • There has been no response from investors, so no new update to report.
  • Issues under discussion continue to come up, including water and dry wells in the Paris community. The Board of Supervisors is aware of this and VDOT is also mindful of possible consequences for increase traffic.
  • More updates will follow as they become available.
