                MINUTES

Attendance:  Peter Weeks, Judy Anderson, Scott and Lisa Seeberger, Bill Bogard, Cynthia Morris, Kate Zurschmeide, David Moore, Lori Seeley, David Ewald, Mary Marks, John Constant, Tom Rust, GK

Call to Order at 7:00 PM: Peter Weeks, presiding

Standing Committees:   

  • Bluemont Fair Update Cynthia, Jen

Tying up loose ends and resting before gearing up again in February.

  • Bluemont Heritage Peter, John S.

Membership Renewal Drive is underway.  55 members the first year.

Bluemont is a Tree City, USA.  Committee planned improvements around EE Lake Store.  Goal is to plant trees and shrubs to beautify the area in 2022.

Crepe Myrtle will be planted at Community Center and plaque will be made in memory of Evelyn Johnson.

Tree by Snickersville Academy dates back to Pre-Civil War.

Parks and Rec. painted the front of the EE Lake Store, firmed up the masonry foundation and repaired gutters,

Community Organizations/Events

  • Loudoun Historic Villages Alliance Peter

  • Neighbors Helping Neighbors Peter

Turkeys will be given away to neighbors in need.

  • Community Center/Parks & Rec Sheri

Children celebrated Halloween at the Community Center and had a wonderful time.

Old Business

  • VDOT Traffic Calming Meetings Peter, Bill Bogard

Peter and Bill have had several meetings with VDOT to improve the traffic situation and flow of traffic.  Traffic study will be conducted during a weekend in the spring (March or April).  Once data is collected, suggestions will be made, a community meeting will be held, and a vote will be taken within the community before making changes.

VDOT will install decorative stonework on each side of Foggy Bottom Bridge

  • Livestock Protection Mary Marks

Lori and Mary will organize horse owners and put agreements in place.

A database will be set up to find out where horses are and who can help house and care for them during an emergency evacuation.

There will be legal technicalities involved.

New Business:

  • Bluemont Vineyard Fundraiser in Dec. Zurschmeide’s

Lighting of the Vines – Bluemont Citizen’s Association/Bluemont Heritage will be the recipient of charity fundraiser Dec. 23rd-26th.  

Dirt Farm and Henway Hard Cider are doing a fundraising event for BCA/Bluemont Heritage on Dec. 26th

Families have volunteered to keep litter off Snickersville Turnpike from Rt. 7 to Yellow Schoolhouse Road.  Families who will be keeping the roads clean include the Snyder’s, Falke’s, Billman’s, Pettit’s, Chaplow’s and Morris’.
